On June 14, 2004, Trinity’s membership voted to adopt two documents:
Bylaws, which address Trinity’s corporate matters, and a Manual of Church Practices, which addresses Trinity’s church matters.   The intent was to create a governan
ce which would, consistent with scripture, give Trinity’s Elders ultimate directional authority, while at the same time delegate various corporate and financial responsibilities to the Board of Trustees.  What we have learned over the past 5 years of operating under this governance is that due to the complexity of church issues, often it is unclear as to which group—Trustees or Elders—should make certain decisions.  This has created confusion and, at times, conflict.  So for the past year, a committee, commissioned by both Elders and Trustees, has been working to consolidate the two documents in to one, creating a single document where all ambiguity has been clarified, ceding all authority to the Elders, thus alleviating areas of operational conflict.  We will be having a series of Town Hall meetings to discuss the changes.
