Members of the benevolence team shall, as needed, meet with and interview benevolence candidates to assess legitimacy of need and determine amount of support to be given. The spiritual gifts most conducive (but not required) for this role are mercy, discernment, and administration.
Resource Deacon

Front Door Deacon
The “Front Door” Deacon (working title, but holder of this position may suggest an alternate one) will oversee those who interact with folks coming in the front door of Trinity, namely: ushers, greeters and blue sign persons. The spiritual gifts most conducive (but not required) for this role are administration and hospitality.
Mercy Deacon
The Mercy Deacon will be responsible for overseeing Trinity's efforts to show God's love, in a non-financial way, to those in the Trinity body who are experiencing difficult circumstances. Depending on the situation, the Mercy Deacon may coordinate the provision by Trinity's members of spiritual, social, emotional and physical help to those in need. The Mercy Deacon will exercise discretion in referring cases to the Benevolence Deacon for financial help. The spiritual gifts most conducive (but not required) for this role are helps/service, wisdom, mercy and healing.
Membership Deacon
The Membership Deacon will be responsible for overseeing the membership process at Trinity under the supervision of the Elders. The primary responsibilities shall include: (1) forming a Membership Team, whose purpose is to oversee the interview and recommendation portion of the process, and (2) coordinating the Trinity Connection Partners initiative in order to connect each new member into the Trinity family. For more detailed information with respect to the membership process, see the Trinity Manual of Church Practices, Article III ("Membership") and Attachment D ("Trinity Connection Partners"). The spiritual gifts most conducive (but not required) for this role are exhortation, wisdom, and hospitality. If you would like to know more about membership at Trinity, email Membership@TrinityNY.org.
Women's Ministry
The Women's Ministry Deacon, through the team such Deacon recruits, will be responsible for Trinity ministries that cater specifically to women. Therefore, this Deacon should be a woman.
Local Missions
The Deacon of Local missions, through the team such Deacon recruits, will be responsible for researching and coordinating local missions involvement, recruiting small groups to serve through a local mission opportunity, coordinating periodic "missions moments" in Sunday services (and/or other venues) to communicate local missions involvement and opportunities.
The Rwandan Missions Deacon, through the team such Deacon recruits, will be responsible for coordinating Trinity's vision for and approach to ministry in Rwanda. This includes communication with the Trinity community and World Vision, encouraging other churches to get involved in the endeavor, facilitating community involvement, coordination of sponsorships and long distance child care, and trip planning.
Deacons shall be women and men who are Members and who meet the qualifications as set forth in I Timothy 3:8-13. They will individually be known as “Deacons,” regardless of gender. As with Elders, these women and men must be above reproach; be the husband of one wife or the wife of one husband; must manage children and household well; must have integrity (be sincere); must be responsibly temperate in their use of alcoholic beverages; must not pursue dishonest gain; must hold to deep truths of the faith; and must be tested in character and ability by service at Trinity.
